"It takes great wit and interest and energy to be happy. The pursuit of happiness is a great activity. One must be open and alive. It is the greatest feat man has to accomplish." - Robert Herrick
If you are reading this blog, I will assume that you may not truly have all the answers to the questions above. How do you define "are you giving life everything you have?" If you have never pushed yourself to your outer limits, smiled in the face of adversity and driven past it, or dropped to the floor from sheer exhaustion while pushing forward with your last breath, than, do you really know what you are made of?
Quality of life can honestly mean something different for everyone. In this quest for happiness, and pursuit of life, you will find one underlying factor; BALANCE.
The body is constantly in a battle with itself, and the surrounding forces around you, to create homeostasis, or a state of balance. Is it any mystery than, that when you pursue one, and one thing only in life, that you wind up drained, lethargic, and empty inside?
Finding fitness is what I deem to be the nucleus of a balanced, healthy, and fulfilling life. When you find fitness, you find a driving force in life to better yourself. As discussed in my previous blog, the carryover from fitness encompasses every facet of life. You build a strong and healthy body that is willing and able to take on any of life's challenges.
Start to think outside the box! Finding fitness is not just about going to the gym, looking buff, and burning calories. It is the focal point in the pursuit for happiness, and what is your quality of life, if you are not happy?
In order to establish true balance in life, you must first begin down the path to finding fitness. Without it, you will never have the energy, will, or knowledge of your inner power to create the life you want. This life long process of finding fitness will enable you to do things you never thought possible. When you have pushed yourself beyond your preconceived limits, performed that last burpee, sparred one more round, or crawled yourself to the finish line, you have forged the body of a warrior. That body, mind, and spirit can withstand any outside influence, and remain in a state of balance.
Boss breathing down your neck, shortened deadlines on projects, out of control children, deteriorating relationships; these are all commonplace in life. When you center your life around finding fitness, you will have the power to become a more successful employee. You will have the energy and the knowledge to tackle new projects. You will play a more active and influential role as a Mother or Father. You will be willing and able to fix, mend, and develop a relationship, or have the power, to end one that is detrimental to your life.
Finding fitness will bring you clarity. Clarity will help you establish what is important in life. When you know what is important, you can begin to influence your quality of life!
Remember to always seek balance. Just as in the physical sense, when you find your center, you find balance, and when you establish balance, you can begin performing outside your center of balance. Finding fitness is your center. You will have much more to give in life once this is established. Never be a one trick pony. Establish the things in life that are most important. Embrace them. Go after them with an indomitable will! Nothing will be easy, but always have faith that the indestructible foundation you have created, will support you no matter how great the challenge.
Today is Friday, which means the end to the standard work week. It is time you put my words to the test. Begin the life long journey of finding fitness, and do something that will begin to forge your invincible will, character, and body.
For me, it began at 6:40 am this morning during my conditioning routine. My good friend Jason Cordeiro, and I, meet at what we call "The Mountain." He began by saying "I feel horrible about myself, all I've been doing is partying this week, it's outta control!" This simple phrase resonated with me so greatly because it brings everything I have preached today, to fruition. He lost sight of fitness, he put all his eggs in one basket, HE LOST BALANCE. Because he has been enlightened by the power of finding fitness, he knew there was one way and one way only to recapture control of his life. It went a little something like this:
*10 Banded Push Ups
*10 Banded Rows
*40 Yard Hill Sprint
*10 Burpees
-Repeat as many rounds as possible in 20 minutes.
Go after your dreams, discover the power of finding fitness, and give life everything you have!
